Ice or water on the room side
Frost that wipes off in a cold snap is condensation, not a broken window. Check humidity and airflow before paying for glass.
Fog between the panes
Haze you can't wipe off means the edge seal has failed. Often only the sealed unit needs replacing, not the whole window.
The crank spins or freezes
A stripped or seized crank is usually a worn operator, a part a pro can swap without touching the glass or frame.
A rock or hail through the glass
Make it safe, photograph it for insurance, then cover the opening. A board-up handles tonight; the new pane comes after.

Broken window glass
Cracked or shattered panes, from an old single-pane storm to a triple-pane sealed unit. Usually the glass changes and the frame stays.
Replacement windows
For frames that are soft, drafty or failing in several places. ENERGY STAR triple pane may qualify for the Efficiency Manitoba rebate.
Wood windows and sash
Original wood sash in older homes can often be repaired. In heritage districts, a permit may be needed before windows change.
