Who we are

Windows Winnipeg ("we") runs this website and a free referral service for window, door and glass work in Winnipeg and nearby Manitoba communities. Independent local professionals do the work, and each is a separate business. Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, PIPEDA, governs how we handle your information.

What we collect and why

When you send a quote request or a message, we collect:

• your name, phone number and email address, so we and the pro can reach you;
• the job address or postal code, so we can match you with a pro who covers your area;
• a description of the job and anything you add in the notes, such as sizes or a rebate question, so the pro can prepare a quote;
• photos or files you choose to upload;
• how you'd like to be contacted, and whether you ticked the optional marketing box.

We use it to handle your request, follow up if it goes quiet, answer questions, record your consent and improve the service. We don't sell personal information.

Photos you upload

Photos are optional, but they help: they show the pro the glass, the frame and the problem, and some small jobs can be priced from them. They go to the pro we match you with, along with your request. Keep people and documents out of the frame, and ask us if you'd like photos deleted once the job is done.

Who receives your request

• The independent pro we match you with. They receive your request, contact details, job address and photos so they can contact you and quote, and they're then responsible for it under their own privacy obligations. If the first pro can't take the job, we may pass it to another. You can ask us which business received it.
• Service providers who help us run the site. Hosting, form, email, messaging and analytics tools process information for us under contract. Some store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where local authorities may be able to access it.
• When the law requires it. We may disclose information if a law requires it, or to prevent fraud or misuse.

We don't give your information to anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses cookies and similar tools to keep forms working, see which pages help and learn whether a search or ad led to a request. This can include your IP address and device type. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and most of the site will still work.

Consent, marketing messages and unsubscribing

When you tick the consent box and send a request, you agree to us sharing it with a pro as described above. Messages about your request come from us and from that pro, and they're limited to the request.

Tips and offers are separate. We send them only if you tick the optional box, and you can leave it unticked and still get your quote. Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), a request gives only limited, time-bound permission to contact you about it, and we don't treat it as permission for marketing. Every commercial email or text we send names us and includes a way to unsubscribe, and we act on those requests promptly (CRTC guidance). If you ask a pro to stop calling, they have to respect it; tell us too and we'll pass it on.

How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep request records only as long as we need them for the request, follow-up, consent records and legal obligations, then delete them or remove anything that identifies you. Access is limited to people who need it, with safeguards suited to the information. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll tell you and report it as PIPEDA requires.

Your rights: access, correction and withdrawal

You can ask us:

• what personal information we hold about you, and who we've shared it with;
• to correct anything that's wrong;
• to withdraw consent for future use, or to delete your information, apart from records the law requires us to keep.

We'll answer within the time PIPEDA allows. Withdrawing consent doesn't pull a request back from a pro who already has it, so contact that business as well; we'll tell you which one it was. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
